3 DIY Recipes for Skincare

As a New-Englander and a farmer, it’s safe to say that the frigid winter weather is not the kindest to my skin. When I come home, the sun is often setting and my tired body is caked with dirt. While the water is boiling for tea and I’m planning my meals for the week ahead, I love to make myself this moisturizing Moringa mask. This homemade face mask is simple, easy and will leave your skin feeling fresh and rejuvenated.

Greek Yogurt: Applying yogurt to your skin on a regular basis can fight acne breakouts, relieve sunburn, prevent premature aging and reduce discoloration. Yogurt contains lactic acid which exfoliates dead cells on the surface of the skin. Yogurt also has water-binding properties like Glycolic Acid which has been known to tighten the surface of the skin.

Honey: Honey contains antibacterial properties and enzymes which helps combat acne by keeping pores clean. Honey is also extremely moisturizing and soothing so it helps create a natural glow.

Moringa: Moringa is extremely high in antioxidants. Moringa contains Vitamin A, Vitamin C and Vitamin E. Below are benefits to each vitamin for your skin.

Vitamin A: Aids in the reduction of wrinkles and brown spots.

Vitamin C: Protects skin from free radical damage and promotes healthy, collagen production. Also reduces inflammation.

Vitamin E: Antioxidant that helps neutralize free radical damage (which damage skin cells). Vitamin E is also extremely moisturizing and encourages cell regeneration.

Ingredients:

1 TBSP of Greek Yogurt ( I used plain, organic greek yogurt)

1 TBSP of Honey ( I used organic, local honey)

1 TBSP of Kuli Kuli Moringa powder

Instructions: Mix all ingredients together in one bowl until a thick paste forms. Apply to your face using clean fingers. Take care to avoid eyes. Leave mask on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with warm water. Moisturize as normal. Show your beautiful face off to the world!
