Nicaraguan Inspired Moringa Tostones

There is something about a tostone, or pan-fried Green plantain, that warms my heart–not to mention revs up my appetite! Check out this Nicaraguan inspired moringa recipe.

Moringa Tostones Ingredients

  • 3 plantains
  • oil for cooking (of your choice)
  • salt
  • moringa powder (as much as you’d like)

Directions

Slice the plantains into about 1 inch pieces.

Pour some of the oil into the skillet, so that about half of the plaintain (half an inch) is covered. Turn on the stove to medium high heat. When the oil is heated, add the pieces of plantain. Allow them to fry 2 minutes for each side. Remove them and place on a paper towel.

On a cutting board, flatten the plaintains with the bottom of a glass or flat surface. Cover them with some moringa.

Place them back into the oil, and fry them until they reach a Golden Brown color. Drain on paper towel.

Salt them to your liking, and enjoy some Nicaraguan cuisine! Accompany with your favorite dipping sauce, or just fly solo.
